Families across Aberdeen are set to benefit from an enhanced winter clothing payment.

Anyone who has already received a school clothing grant in 2025/26 will automatically receive a £30 payment by the end of October. All new successful applications up until 31 March 2026 will also receive an additional £30 winter clothing payment paid along with the school clothing grant.

Aberdeen City Council Co-Leader Councillor Christian Allard said: “Winter continues to be a difficult period for many households, and these payments are crucial in supporting families who are feeling the pinch.

“I would urge anyone who is worried about increasing costs or struggling to make ends meet to reach out to our services and partners for the full support available.”

Anti-Poverty and Inequality Vice-Convener Councillor Desmond Buchanan said: “The additional winter clothing payment will help ensure that every child in Aberdeen has the essentials they need to stay warm and comfortable throughout the colder months.”

School clothing grants are available to families with children attending Aberdeen City Council schools, including those starting Primary 1, provided they receive qualifying benefits such as Council Tax Reduction or Housing Benefit.

Students who are in receipt of an Education Maintenance Allowance can also apply for a school clothing grant for themselves.
