Aberdeen FC and Saltire Energy have announced that their long-standing sponsorship will be coming to a natural close at the end of this season.
Saltire Energy is the longest-running shirt sponsor in the club’s history and Aberdeen FC marked the end of the deal by paying tribute to Mike Loggie and his team.
The Portlethen-based supplier of state-of-the-art drilling equipment to the oil and gas industry became the club’s shirt sponsor at the start of the 2014/15 season. This partnership was extended for a further three seasons in 2019.
Rob Wicks, commercial director at AFC said: “As a global company with a local approach, Saltire is passionate about supporting the communities in which it operates. Their long-standing support of the Club has extended from the first team to our youth academy and beyond to our work in the wider community.
“We are grateful to everyone at Saltire for their sponsorship over the last eight years and wanted to ensure that everyone involved with the Club and especially our fans are aware of the contribution they have made to the Club during this time. This may be the end of this sponsorship but we look forward to a continued relationship with Saltire Energy and to seeing them at Pittodrie where they will always be welcome.”
Commenting on today’s announcement, Mike Loggie, founder and chief executive of Saltire Energy said: “The partnership has cemented our brand in the North-east and across Scotland and we’ve been pleased to play such an important role in the Club. Saltire Energy is proud of the support we provide for sport in Scotland and the communities that enjoy it – the core values of respect, leadership, engagement and achievement are very much what we stand for as a business.
“During our eight years as main sponsor, we’ve experienced some highs and lows on the pitch but, crucially, we’ve seen the youth academy and the Trust flourish. Both of which were major factors in our decision to support the club.”
The club will be announcing its new shirt sponsor later this week.
