Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce (AGCC) has launched a new drive to help businesses achieve net zero.
The Scottish Government has set an ambitious target to become net zero by 2045, and businesses have a huge part to play.
To help firms meet growing commercial pressure to adopt net zero strategies, AGCC has launched ‘Net Zero North-east’, a website to help and inspire local businesses.
AGCC is also piloting a Net Zero North-east training programme with 30 local businesses to strengthen knowledge in the SME community around the climate emergency and carbon reduction.
Website
The ‘Net Zero North-east’ website is designed to help businesses understand how they need to adapt to operate in a net zero environment and the impacts of climate change.
The hub contains information on what net zero means for businesses, how to create a net zero strategy, a glossary of terms and definitions and a useful resources page.
Also hosted on the website are a variety of success stories, case studies and news from local businesses to further inspire businesses to prepare for a net zero world.
Net Zero North-east is funded by the Scottish Government via the North East Economic Recovery and Skills Fund (NEERSF).
‘Better understanding’
Terri Vogt, project manager, Net Zero North-east sad: “It is evident that many SMEs want to play their part in moving towards net zero but there is currently very little information and training to support them.
“The net zero training is aimed at equipping companies to start their journey and to understand both the opportunities and the challenges they might face and where to get help and support.”
She added: “Feedback from our pilot sessions has been very positive. In particular, people have benefitted from getting a better understanding of all the terminology associated with net zero and how to calculate their carbon footprint and this is why we launched the Net Zero North-east website.”
