A popular Aberdeen hotel and restaurant has re-opened with an American twist after lying closed for years.

The CV19 pandemic forced the Mariner Hotel on Great Western Road to close its doors in 2020 but, under new ownership, it's re-opened four years later, with a risqué new name.

'Ooters' - a nod to American chain Hooters - opened on Friday with a stateside theme.

Previous plans for the property had been to turn it into housing, though a number of objections put an end to those.

Robin Bradford, who runs the revamped venue, said: "Someone bought it from the previous owners after the flats proposal was rejected. I lease it from that company.

“This place has been closed for a year-and-a-half due to COVID and other issues.

“I saw it last July through a friend of mine and fell in love with it and saw the potential."
