The future of the £215m Aberdeen Hydrogen Hub remains unclear after an apparent delay to an investment decision.

The joint BP and Aberdeen City Council venture had been planning first production of hydrogen by 2025 from land at Hareness Road, in Altens Industrial Park, but a key final investment decision that was expected last year has still yet to be made.

The Scottish Government has made a £15m multi-year commitment towards the project, while BP and the council had also committed millions towards early design works.

The three-phased project had a £215m price tag put on it at an invitation to tender by the council, though the split of the costs has not been made public.

A spokesperson for BP in Aberdeen said the project was going through due diligence, while the council's administration did not respond.
