Aberdeen & Northern Marts – part of ANM Group, one of Scotland’s leading co-operative businesses – is pleased to announce the appointment of David Merchant as Centre Manager of the Elgin Auction Centre.
Mr Merchant is a well-known figure in the community and a skilled auctioneer, having worked across Scotland as a respected valuer and auctioneer for more than thirty years. He will be taking over for Gordon Pirie, who will retire at the end of the December after nearly fifty years of service at the centre.

Mr Merchant is a Fellow of the Institute of Auctioneers and Appraisers for Scotland, has earned a steadfast reputation through his auctioneering and valuation work, and brings a wealth of industry knowledge and experience that will prove beneficial to the business.
The Elgin centre facilities accommodate weekly sales of household furniture, furnishings and bric-a-brac, and renowned quarterly antiques sales. The centre also hosts a Saturday market held every weekend that offers a wide variety of goods.
