Bon Accord Aberdeen is pleased to welcome Aberdeen Science Centre for a special pop up exhibition, opening on Friday, August 21. The exhibition is ahead of the redeveloped Constitution Street premises reopening in Autumn 2020.
The exhibition can be found on the lower mall, between the spiral staircase and EE store. When you visit the pop up, you can expect to see some of Aberdeen Science Centre’s iconic exhibits including the Satrosphere and Rotts Pendulum. The exhibit also contains a timeline taking visitors back to 1988 when the centre first opened its doors as Satrosphere, the first Science Centre in Scotland.
Craig Stevenson, centre manager at Bon Accord said: “We are delighted to welcome Aberdeen Science Centre to Bon Accord for their pop-up exhibition.
“It is great to see such an engaging and educational pop up open at the centre. Bon Accord always aims to add something new to the customer experience and make visitors smile, this certainly fits the bill. We would like to thank Aberdeen Science Centre for their hard work to make this happen.”
The science centre will return to the Tramsheds on Constitution Street in the autumn after spending two years in a temporary base on George Street.
The redevelopment work includes an extension and creation of a new mezzanine floor – almost doubling the exhibition space – and exposing the roof structure to allow natural light to flood into the building, creating a bright, airy, modern interior.
Bryan Snelling, chief executive at Aberdeen Science Centre said: "The renovation of Aberdeen Science Centre has been transformational and we’re very excited that we can give visitors to the Bon Accord Centre a chance to see and enjoy some of the memorable exhibits of the past before we welcome them to our superb new centre with its 60 all-new interactive exhibits.”
Aberdeen Science Centre’s pop up exhibition will arrive on Bon Accord’s lower mall on Friday, August 21.
