The Granite City joins forces with a global movement this June to host Scotland’s only World Wide Knit in Public Day.
The full day event, organised by Aberdeen Yarnfest and the Bon Accord Centre, will take place in the new ReCHarge Café in Bon Accord Centre on Saturday June 8. 100% of profits made from café sales during the event will go directly to the charity which supports babies, children and young people with complex disabilities and life-limiting conditions, and their families, in the North-east of Scotland.
Similar World Wide Knit in Public events will also take place in England, Scandinavia, Europe, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the United States, with more locations being added daily making World Wide Knit in Public Day the largest knitter run event in the world. 2018 saw 715 events globally.
Aberdeen Yarnfest on June 9 which will double in capacity both in exhibitor and visitor numbers from its inaugural event last year, is supported by VisitAberdeenshire, and Scotrail who are offering a 20% discount on their tickets to Yarnfest attendees.
Laurie Scott, head of the convention and events bureau at VisitAberdeenshire said, “We look forward to welcoming visitors from throughout the UK to the annual Yarnfest event and hope they have time to explore the North-east region and our many quality visitor experiences.”
