News that both easyJet and FlyBe have reintroduced regional routes from Aberdeen and that easyJet has launched a new service to Manchester has been welcomed by one of Scotland’s leading travel management companies.
Murray Burnett, managing director of Munro’s Travel, an independent travel management company based in Aberdeen which arranges global travel for essential oil, gas and marine workers says, “The loss of some regional flight routes from Aberdeen over the last two years was a hugely concerning consequence of lower passenger numbers, in part due to the pandemic. The collapse of Flybe was a severe blow to Aberdeen’s connectivity which had taken decades to build. These routes were vital for companies with workforces living across the UK.
“The newly relaunched Flybe airline, the new Manchester route and increased Gatwick flights with easyJet in addition to the routes which Loganair successfully serviced give a positive message about the importance of seamless connectivity for the city.
“Air connectivity to hub airports is essential for the north east’s economy. The ability to send passengers and freight from Aberdeen with ease plays a crucial role in transporting essential oil, gas and maritime workers globally.”
