AberNecessities is proud to announce that it raised over £56,000 at its 'Catch a Falling Star' Birthday Ball, generously sponsored by Stork, a fluor company. The spectacular event took place on Saturday, September 30th, 2023, at Union Kirk, and it was attended by more than 200 guests, including corporate supporters, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, and members of the Aberdeen community.
The evening kicked off on a magical note with a captivating performance by the immensely talented Rock Choir, which instantly set the stage for an unforgettable night. The event, hosted by the renowned Scottish comedian Fred MacAulay, not only brought people together but also achieved an incredible feat—raising crucial funds for AberNecessities through the kindness of donors.
The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the wide array of auction and raffle prizes that showcased the incredible generosity of our attendees. Their willingness to contribute, whether through donations or participation, was nothing short of heartwarming. These invaluable contributions will go a long way in providing essential support to local families and children who are currently grappling with the harsh realities of extreme financial hardship.
Currently, 1 in 5 local children in Aberdeen is living in poverty, and AberNecessities is dedicated to alleviating the financial pressure on these families, ensuring that children have access to the necessities they need to thrive. The theme of the night, 'Catch a Falling Star,' was inspired by the knowledge that 33% of children living in poverty fall behind in their education. The event aimed to ignite hope and aspirations, reminding us all that children's dreams know no bounds.
