Absafe receives sponsorship from Marathon Oil

School children to benefit from donation to safety education charity Absafe by an UK oil and gas operator.

A recent financial donation by Marathon Oil to Bridge of Don-based charity Absafe, will allow the organisation to continue providing important safety-themed educational sessions to schoolchildren, businesses and the wider community.

Absafe provides fun and engaging lessons on the fundamentals of personal safety covering road, fire and railway safety as well as anti-social behaviour and cybersecurity.

In the last year, Absafe has taught more than 3000 children from its interactive facility, and through its road safety school assembly programme, in conjunction with Aberdeen City Council.

Les Linklater, Absafe chair and executive director of industry body Step Change in Safety said: “Educating children in the fundamental facts about safety is incredibly and increasingly important. Absafe has benefited greatly over the years from the positive relationship it has with Marathon Oil and its employees. Their recent donation means that we can continue to positively influence young people and empower them to make safe decisions.

“Safety is a core value for everyone, and Marathon Oil is leading the way with this investment in the future of young people in the city and shire, instilling safe behaviours in the next generation of the workforce.”

Laura McIntyre, Absafe’s marketing and corporate relations manager said: “We’d like to extend a huge thank you to Marathon Oil for its investment in us and the next generation.”
