New Reform chairman Dr David Bull says it is "crucial" party does well in Scotland, insisting the country has "been ignored for a long time".

Bull made the comments at an event in Perth, where he also shut down any prospect of a new independence referendum under Reform.

He said, The Times reports: “It’s absolutely crucial we do well and win in all parts of the Union, because we are a pro-Union party.

"Scotland’s been ignored for a long time and it’s time we changed that.”

Addressing the issue of Scottish independence, Bull added: “The whole point of the Union is we are much stronger together, and when you look at the polling the reason the SNP are falling apart is partly because they are incompetent, but also because people have bigger battles to fight than independence."

It comes as Nigel Farage, who Bull described as the "Heineken of politics", is set to announce a new "Robin Hood" policy.

The scheme would allow non-doms to essentially purchase a £250,000 "Britannia card" to shield them from taxes, with the money being distributed among the lowest paid workers in the UK.

Under the policy, The Times reports, UK residents whose permanent home is abroad and who take up the £250,000 option would then not be taxed on wealth, income or capital gains earned overseas.

The exemption entitlement could then be renewed every 10 years at no extra cost.
