Outside the blue sky sparkled, the sun bounced off the autumnal coloured leaves.
Inside, in the resplendent Oval Ballroom of Raemoir House, the wedding ceremony was taking place between Keith and Karla whilst outside the bride’s pure breed Highland pony, Rosh, was waiting patiently for them for a unique photoshoot in the grounds. What Karla didn’t know was that the owner of Raemoir, Neil Rae, had arranged to bring Rosh inside the House when she emerged as the new Mrs Dickie.
When Karla first stepped out of the Ballroom into the reception area where Rosh was standing her initial thought was that she was seeing things, a result of enjoying too much champagne as she was getting ready. Karla explained “It was only when Keith reassured me that it was really him that I believed what I was seeing. I knew he was going to be outside in the grounds but never did I expect to see him inside. We call him super Rosh” Logan Sangster from Deeside Photographics captured the moment perfectly. He certainly lived up to his nick name as he behaved impeccably, standing quietly munching Keith’s buttonhole. After losing her beloved horse Ellie in June, Keith and Karla’s father couldn’t resist Rosh. Karla was delighted with the surprise gift. “Ellie had left such a huge hole in my life as I had had her for twenty two years. Rosh has definitely helped to fill the gap; he is full of character and fun. Our wedding was just perfect from start to finish, having Rosh inside was the icing on the cake”
Neil Rae owner of Raemoir House is delighted with how the day went. “At Raemoir House we encourage our exclusive use guests to use our venue as they would their own home. Obviously not everyone would like to take their horses to their wedding ceremony but it was something that we could do to make Karla’s event even more unique and memorable”.
Raemoir House set in its 11 acres of entirely secluded parkland in the heart of Royal Deeside is made up of two distinct buildings. The older, the Ha’Hoose dates back to 1690, with the main Georgian Mansion starting life as a private house entertaining on a grand scale, becoming a hotel in 1943. Between them there are 18 individually decorated en-suite bedrooms. In 2018 Raemoir House is returning to its roots once again becoming a venue for private use. Neil explained “Raemoir House is magnificent in grandeur yet welcoming in atmosphere; it lends its self perfectly to private groups or parties whether it is for corporate functions or private celebrations. Current climate and demand for it being an exclusive use venue has led us to evolve to our next exciting stage”
