Oil and natural gas
exploration and production company Apache Corporation has donated £30,000 to
Clan Cancer Support, enabling the charity to transform the events space within
its Aberdeen base and make it available for corporate hire.
The leading cancer support
charity has now renovated a 644 square foot room at Clan House on Westburn
Drive into a multifunctional space with integrated technology that connects to
other Clan venues.
The equipment makes it
possible for Clan’s community bases across the North-east, Moray, Shetland and
Orkney to virtually access events and activities, including nutrition and
wellbeing workshops and support sessions held in Aberdeen.
The donation from Apache has
also allowed Clan to invest in a bespoke catering area, AV set up and
whiteboards, making the space – named The Westburn Room - perfectly equipped to
host training days and external corporate events.
Duncan Peter, Clan’s head of
income generation, said: “This is a significant donation from Apache in that
it’s allowed us to completely rethink and maximise the use of one of our key
event spaces, creating benefits for our clients and unlocking a new income
stream.
“The Westburn Room can now
connect to our community bases, allowing those out with Aberdeen to virtually
access activities and sessions at Clan House, in addition to what’s available
in their local areas. It also means our staff, who are based across a huge
geographical location, have another way of communicating.
“The icing on the cake for
us is The Westburn Room is now a very attractive city-centre based venue option
for businesses looking to hire an external flexible space and support a local
charity. We’re incredibly grateful to Apache for this fantastic donation and
look forward to welcoming businesses to our new facilities.”
“Apache is
committed to building long-lasting relationships in our local communities and
we are pleased to be supporting Clan in their vital work to support
people living with cancer,” said Adele Howie, Apache bond committee member.
“The decision to
donate to Clan was made by our bond committee, which manages funds generated by
the company’s workforce through sales of confectionary and other items on our
offshore platforms.”
The Westburn Room can
accommodate approximately 50 people and is fully accessible with parking spaces
available. The room is available for hire throughout the week, including
weekends, from £50 per hour.
