Aberdeen marketing agency Arch 35 Marketing’s managing director and co-founder Darren Cadger recently visited Oldmachar Academy to speak with Higher Business Management students about careers in marketing and the realities of running a growing creative business in the Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire area.
The sessions, held on Monday 3rd of November and Tuesday 4th of November, were led by Darren, focussing on his journey from apprentice engineer, to student, to company founder. Students gained first-hand insight into how a local agency supports a range of North-east businesses with social media strategy, SEO, and digital marketing as well as the skills and mindset needed to build a successful career in the industry.
Darren discussed the story behind Arch 35 Marketing’s launch in February this year and offered practical advice on building client relationships, managing campaigns, and developing personal branding through social media management, with emphasis on LinkedIn. He also highlighted opportunities for students to gain real-world experience through work placements with the agency.
“It’s brilliant to see how engaged and curious the pupils were,” said Darren Cadger. “Marketing today is such a creative and data-driven field and hearing their questions showed how ready the next generation is to bring fresh ideas to local businesses.”
Oldmachar Academy’s business department welcomed the collaboration as part of its ongoing commitment to connect classroom learning with the region’s business community.
