Dozens of students set to graduate from Robert Gordon University (RGU) this week will be buoyed by a visit from the Chief Nursing Officer of Scotland.
Professor Fiona McQueen is visiting the North-east to launch the Chief Nursing Officer’s 2030 Vision for Nursing in Scotland and will attend the graduation ceremony for RGU’s School of Nursing and Midwifery on Thursday July 13.
She will spend time with students, learning more about their successful studies and demonstrating how the new Vision will benefit the population and nursing careers going forward.
Professor McQueen said: “I’m delighted to be part of the graduation of RGU’s Nursing students.
“It’s particularly exciting for me as I launch the 2030 Nursing Vision, which will support the graduates to grow and flourish as professional nurses across what I hope will be a lifelong, successful and fulfilling career.”
The 2030 Vision for Nursing has been designed to prepare a nursing workforce that will be ready and able to meet people’s needs as the country moved towards 2030. It will be followed by a detailed action plan describing how the Government intends to make the Vision’s ideas a reality over the short, medium and long terms.
The Vision has been shaped by input from the nurses and student nurses of Scotland, along with other stakeholders, including members of the general public, through a wide engagement process.
Following her time at RGU’s graduation ceremony, Professor McQueen will visit Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (ARI) to see the innovative work being undertaken in the ‘care of older people’ wards, before meeting with students taking part in the ‘Care Home’ pilot at Laurels Lodge Care Home.
