Brightridge Technology has established a dedicated local presence in Aberdeen after identifying a clear need among businesses in the region for cyber‑first IT services delivered end to end by a single, accountable partner.
The expansion brings more than 25 years of experience into the region, with Brightridge supporting organisations across the UK in sectors including oil and gas, energy transition, professional services, food and drink and the wider SME community.
The company said that while awareness of cyber risk is high, many businesses are struggling with the practical reality of cyber security and compliance. In particular, organisations are often assessed by one provider, only to be passed elsewhere for remediation, ongoing management and evidence gathering.
From speaking directly with clients, Brightridge said this fragmented approach creates confusion, delay and unnecessary risk, especially for SMEs without dedicated security teams.
Brightridge delivers a cyber‑first approach to IT and managed services, with security designed in from the outset rather than added later. As one of a small number of IASME certifying bodies with the in‑house capability to assess, remediate and maintain security controls, the business is able to support organisations through the full lifecycle of compliance and resilience.
This includes working alongside existing IT teams or acting as a fully managed partner, giving businesses a clear and defensible view of their security posture as requirements continue to evolve through standards, customers and insurers.
The Aberdeen office will be led by Andy McKay, Commercial Director, who lives in Aberdeenshire and brings extensive experience of building and scaling technology businesses, alongside a strong understanding of the local business landscape. Andy is supported by a wider in‑house team spanning cyber security, technical delivery and compliance and assurance expertise.
Andy McKay said, “What businesses consistently tell us is that they value simplicity and accountability. They want to work with one partner who understands both cyber security and the IT environment underneath it, and who is prepared to take responsibility for the whole picture.”
Founder and chief executive Iain Bett added:
“Aberdeen businesses operate in complex, high‑risk and highly regulated environments, and that demands a level of capability and accountability that can’t be improvised. Establishing a local presence here is a deliberate investment in bringing our experience closer to the region, led by someone who understands both the technology and the local business reality.”
The Aberdeen team will support organisations with managed IT, cyber security, connectivity and telephony services, helping local businesses build resilience while reducing complexity.
