A dispute resolution expert from UK and leading Scottish law firm, Brodies LLP, has been re-elected to serve a second term as president of The Society of Advocates in Aberdeen.

Ken MacDonald, who specialises in commercial disputes and international arbitration, is the first president in more than 40 years to have his term extended by election. The decision comes as the Society continues to navigate the challenges brought by the CV19 pandemic.

Dating back to the 16th century, The Society of Advocates draws its membership from the legal profession in Aberdeen and the North-east of Scotland. It exists to promote legal professional expertise and standards in the region.

Commenting on his re-election, Ken MacDonald, said: "I am greatly honoured to have been asked by the management committee to serve another term and to have that proposal endorsed by our membership. Despite the challenges brought about by the CV19 pandemic, we have been able to continue to support our members, in particular, those at the beginning of their legal careers. I look forward to working with our members and our management committee into 2021."
