Business Beats Cancer Aberdeen is thrilled to announce the overwhelming success of its inaugural fundraising gala dinner, held on May 23, 2025 at The Chester Hotel.
The event saw an impressive turnout, with over 35 businesses and 240 guests in attendance, all united in the fight against cancer.
The evening was hosted by the charismatic Grado, who kept the audience entertained and engaged throughout the night. The event was generously sponsored by Bristow Search & Rescue, PCL Live, DF Communications Farsight, aberdeenphoto.com, QA Vehicle Solutions Ltd, and Graham Smith of Scott James & Associates, whose support was instrumental in making the night a triumph.
The evening featured inspiring speeches from guest speakers. Dr. Sharon Hanley shared details of her work at the University of Aberdeen, funded by Cancer Research UK, highlighting the important research being conducted. Professor Pauline Bremner provided a very poignant account of her own cancer diagnosis, offering a personal and heartfelt perspective that resonated deeply with the audience.
Guests were treated to a spectacular performance by the Red Hot Chilli Pipers, whose energetic and vibrant music added a unique flair to the evening.
The highlight of the night was the announcement that over £47,500 was raised for Cancer Research UK in Scotland, a testament to the generosity and commitment of all those involved.
"We are incredibly grateful to everyone who attended and supported our first gala dinner," said Dr Monika Gostic, Co-chair, "The funds raised will make a significant impact in our ongoing efforts to support cancer research and provide hope to those affected by this disease."
The Business Beats Cancer initiative was founded in Glasgow in 2015 and there are now 13 boards across the UK, uniting businesses in the fight against cancer. The Aberdeen board looks forward to continuing its mission and hosting more events in the future to bring the local business community together to raise funds for Cancer Research UK projects across Scotland.
“It was a fantastic evening and the business community showed their support in abundance” said Co-chair Neale Bisset, “the board are highly motivated and we look forward to planning our next event!”
