CALA Business lunch raises £90,000 for Cash for Kids

An annual business lunch event in aid of Cash for Kids’ ‘Coats for Kids Appeal’ has raised more than £90,000 to help support local children who live in poverty.

The lunch, which was sponsored by CALA Homes at the Marcliffe Hotel on Friday 20th September, saw businesses from across the North-east band together for an entertaining afternoon to help raise funds for the children’s charity.

The main aim of the event was to help ensure disadvantaged children in the area have suitable winter attire as the cold weather sets in.

In addition, to commemorate their five years of ongoing fundraising support for the charity, Cash for Kids thanked the team at CALA North with a framed gold disc highlighting their dedication to the good cause.

Michelle Ferguson, Cash for Kids charity manager, said: “We were thrilled to have the support of CALA Homes in sponsoring this superb business lunch for the second year and we’d like to thank everyone for their generosity on the day.

“The funds raised from the event will be used to purchase not only coats but gloves, hats, scarves and suitable shoes for disadvantaged children who may otherwise be faced with braving cold and wet weather this winter.

“Further donations on the day also allowed us to invite three groups of children along to P&J Live to see a magical performance of Disney on Ice. They all had a fantastic time and experienced the show in a private booth, all thanks to the kind support from everyone who attended the business lunch.”

Mike Naysmith, managing director for CALA Homes (North), said: “We have supported Cash for Kids and its vital appeals for many years and are pleased to once again back the business lunch, which was very well attended for a second year.

“No child in the area should have to endure the winter without the proper cold weather essentials so we’re very grateful to all the businesses across the region who helped to raise such a staggering amount of money for such a good cause.”

CALA Homes will also be supporting Cash for Kids with the Mission Christmas campaign to help ensure that children living in poverty will be able to have gift this Christmas. Donation points have been set up at CALA’s offices at Milltimber Manor, Cults Park, Mains of Grandhome, Craibstone Estate and The Grove in Inverurie, as well as their head office in Westhill.
