Signal has recently completed production on an engaging mini documentary for Finnish marine and energy experts, Wärtsilä, showcasing the complex engineering challenges involved in replacing thrusters on a drill ship on the island of Curaçao in the Caribbean.
This turnkey maintenance program highlighted Wärtsilä's technical expertise and the strength of its long-standing partnership with Noble, a collaboration built on trust, innovation, and a shared commitment to operational excellence.
With a limited pre-production period, the team had only a short window to plan logistics for filming thousands of miles away, coordinate interviews, and ensure all necessary elements were in place to capture the scale of the operation. Despite these challenges, Signal’s team moved quickly to make it happen.
Filming took place on Curaçao, an island renowned for its vibrant culture, Dutch colonial architecture, and stunning turquoise waters. It provided a stunning backdrop to document the high-stakes engineering feat. Much of the filming occurred underwater, using specialized cameras to capture Wärtsilä’s experienced divers at work, as well as footage on the vessels and aerials using 4k drones (add link)
Through a combination of expert interviews with Wärtsilä and Noble Drilling personnel, as well as compelling behind-the-scenes footage, the documentary captures the scale of the operation and the dedication of the people behind it.
Wärtsilä entrusted Signal with the project due to their deep understanding of the industry and extensive experience with complex international shoots. Signal was proud to showcase its capabilities once again in this field.
Client feedback has been very positive with the team saying "It has a strong hook at the start, and the aerial and underwater shots are really striking." This is the first episode in a series that Signal will be involved in.
With decades of experience in producing complex, multi-location international shoots, Signal continue to help all kinds of organisations tell their stories, no matter the subject or location.
