Westhill-based Orka Solutions is highlighting a major opportunity for community groups to cut energy costs and carbon emissions, thanks to the launch of the CARES Community Buildings Fund.
Administered by Local Energy Scotland and funded by the Scottish Government, the scheme offers up to 80% of project costs (capped at £80,000) to support renewable technologies, including solar PV and battery storage. Applications are open until October 2025, with all projects to be completed by February 2026.
Duncan Booth, Director at Orka Solutions, explains: “Community buildings often sit at the heart of local life but face some of the highest pressures from rising energy bills. The CARES fund is a real opportunity to tackle those costs while making a lasting commitment to net zero.”
He adds: “Solar is one of the simplest, most effective measures to reduce energy spend and carbon footprint. We’ve recently supported a local church to install solar PV, and projects like this show just how much difference it can make — freeing up resources to be invested back into the community.”
With demand for funding expected to be high, Orka Solutions is encouraging those responsible for community halls, churches and local hubs to explore support while applications remain open.
Westhill-based Orka Solutions delivers expert support and seamless solar, EV and battery solutions for businesses across Scotland.
