Ten years ago, EPIT Group made a strategic leap forward with the opening of its purpose-built training facility in Blackburn Business Park, near Aberdeen.
At a time when the oil and gas industry was facing significant challenges, the decision to invest in a custom-designed centre reflected not just ambition, but a deep-rooted belief in the value of high-quality training and industry resilience.
That belief proved well placed.
Over the past decade, the facility has become a trusted hub for technical training, skills assessment, and consultancy, serving thousands of engineers, technicians, and contractors from across the UK and international markets including the Middle East, Africa, and Europe. The centre's purpose-designed training workshops, combined with EPIT's experienced instructors and assessors, have helped raise competence and confidence across multiple disciplines.
Throughout these 10 years, the training centre has established itself as the go-to destination for CompEx training and assessment for professionals from across the UK. But EPIT has also evolved and expanded its offering significantly. The centre has launched a range of new courses including ATEX and IECEx certification programmes, hydrogen safety training, high voltage authorised person courses, and more. A landmark achievement came when EPIT became Scotland's first IECEx Recognised Training Provider, one of only two in the UK, confirming its position at the forefront of internationally recognised standards for explosive atmosphere training.
The numbers tell their own story. EPIT enjoys a high return rate of professionals who come back to the training centre for new qualifications, CompEx refreshers, and additional courses throughout their careers. With a nearly 100% satisfaction rate across training programmes and an above-industry-average pass rate on CompEx assessments, the results reflect the quality and dedication of the trainers and support staff at the facility.
"Reaching 10 years in this facility is a significant milestone for the entire EPIT team," said Martin Constable, Operations Director at EPIT Group. "We've built enduring relationships across the sector by focusing on practical, industry-relevant training backed by real-world experience. This anniversary is a testament to the dedication of our staff and the trust of our clients, and we're excited about what the next decade will bring."
Alison Cox, Managing Director, added: "Over the last decade, we've seen the training centre establish itself as a recognised centre of excellence. We remain committed to delivering high-quality, flexible training and consultancy that supports operational safety, compliance, and professional development across hazardous environments."
As EPIT Group celebrates this milestone, the focus remains firmly on the future, continuing to deliver reliable, relevant, and respected training that meets the evolving needs of modern industry.
