This week Stacey Corbett, HR coordinator at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC), celebrates twenty years of working at the venue.
Having joined AECC as an office junior in 1997 straight from nearby Bridge of Don Academy, Stacey has seen many changes at the Bridge of Don based venue. These have included the expansion project in 2003 which saw the creation of meetings and conference space as well as upgraded concert facilities; and the exciting new development currently in progress, which will see the creation of a state-of-the-art venue at Bucksburn, boasting 47,000m2 of event space and a 12,500 capacity arena, which is due to open in 2019.
In her twenty years with the company, Stacey has worked in both the sales and catering departments before taking up her current role as HR coordinator in November 2015 after gaining a CIPD HR Practice Certificate from the North East Scotland College.
Speaking of her time at AECC, Stacey commented: “I’ve literally grown up with AECC and have great memories from my years here, from working on reception to sourcing 200 staff daily for Offshore Europe. I enjoy my current role in human resources, as a people person dealing with staff is my ideal job.”
Graeme Cumming, interim managing director at AECC commented: “It is wonderful to celebrate Stacey’s twenty years at AECC; and we recognise the dedication and loyalty she has shown in her time with the company. As an Investors in People employer, we endeavour to nurture and develop our staff and as such have many employees who have been with us for a number of years. Twenty years at one company is a great achievement, congratulations Stacey.”
