Exceptional achievements of companies and individuals in the offshore energy sector were recognised in Aberdeen last night.

The Press & Journal says around 400 guests attended the Offshore Achievement Awards at P&J Live.

The significant contribution award went to Colin Black, whose career in the industry has spanned more than 30 years.

He was honoured for his work “above and beyond his day-to-day role” by awards organiser SPE Aberdeen.

Alongside roles at Halliburton, Hunting and his current UK partner position at TechnologyCatalogue.com, Mr Black spent more than five years as chairman of voluntary group Nasa in Aberdeen, helping inspire pupils into science, technology, engineering, and maths subjects with the help of astronauts visiting the Granite City.

He also had six years as director of SPE Europe and a year as vice-chairman of Offshore Energy UK’s efficiency task force.

Awards chairman Kenny McAllister hailed Mr Black’s industry work and voluntary role.
