Centrum regenerates Union Street office space

Centrum ltd has this week launched its new City Centre serviced office facility on Union Street, the company’s first venture into the Granite City creating new roles and space for office workers.

Centrum has expanded its successful serviced office model into Aberdeen by transforming 16771 sq/ft of empty office space into a state-of-the-art serviced office facility situated across four floors.

The impressive space provides office facilities for 250 people across 50 offices and features a unique co-working space, library and brainstorming area as well as showers, bike storage, well equipped meeting rooms and modern break-out areas.

Celebrating with an official launch evening last night, the company has shown its commitment to the city by raising funds for Sue Ryder’s Dee View Court Appeal as part of its launch activities. Centrum has announced that it will donate 10% of revenue from new signings for the first six months of operating, to the cause.

Jenna McArthur, centre manager for Centrum’s Aberdeen location said: “We are delighted to have officially launched our Aberdeen facility and to be able to use this opportunity to raise funds for such an important, local appeal. Sue Ryder provides specialist care to those living with all sorts of neurological conditions, however the limited capacity of Dee View Court means that the growing demand for this support cannot be met. Both as a business, and as individuals, we feel very passionate about the work that Sue Ryder does and are delighted to be able to help this appeal.”

Emma Leiper Finlayson, Capital Appeal manager of Sue Ryder Dee View Court said "Dee View Court is the only purpose built specialist neurological care centre in Scotland and with the huge demand for neurological care, particularly in the North-east, we've simply been unable to keep up, which is why we desperately need to expand. We are half way through a two year appeal and thanks to the incredible support we've received from the local community, we have raised £2.4m of our £3.9m target to create 20, much needed, new bedrooms at the centre.

"We so honored and grateful to have Centrum pledge 10% of its profits from all new leases to our Appeal, which is a fantastic commitment and one that will go a long way to helping us raise the remaining £1.5m we need to complete the project. Not only will these offices breathe new life into Union Street and the surrounding areas, but the donation towards our Appeal will, in some cases, help give a new lease of life to many of those waiting to call Dee View Court their home."

Speaking of the decision to open a facility in Aberdeen, Miss McArthur continued: “Our Glasgow offices have had continuously high occupancy rates over the past few years and it made sense to bring the concept to Aberdeen - which is seeing a rise in entrepreneurial spirit, therefore prompting a rise in start up businesses. In addition, many long standing businesses are outgrowing their current spaces and we wanted to offer a solution

“We are very proud of our unique co-working facility which offers small businesses or employees who perhaps work remotely, the opportunity to have a base in the city centre to work from, meet clients and enjoy the buzz of working in a modern and inspiring space surrounded by like-minded people. All members of our facility will also have access to our brainstorming area and beautiful library space located on the top floor of our building.”

Several businesses have already snapped up space in the exclusive development including local entrepreneurs UWA Tequila, One Day Launch and …
