The community of Chapelton is set to enjoy a ‘sun-sational’ calendar of events as the town celebrates the warmer months.
The Chapelton 10K and Kids Fun Run on Sunday, July 14, will launch the fun-filled summer where the whole family can race to raise funds for local charities. The town’s first farmers’ market will arrive just one week later on Sunday 21 July offering the chance to enjoy a taste of the North East’s great selection of produce from a range of suppliers.
The Friday feeling will be felt at the Porter’s Gin drinks tasting on August 9, where one of the UK’s most innovative micro-distilleries will welcome guests to enjoy a tipple and learn about the success of the brand with an optional gin inspired three-course meal available at the town’s popular bistro, Teacake.
Finally, the incredibly popular annual Bike Ride and 5K Walk event will take place on 01 September once again raising much-needed funds for North East Sensory Services. Another family day out, the day starts at 10:30am with a 42 mile bike ride ahead of a shorter 12 mile route for children and a 5km trail walk for those that prefer to stay on their own two feet.
In addition to the specific events, throughout August visitors will be able to see a variety of scarecrows in gardens and around the square as part of a festival orgnaised by Chapelton's Allotment committee. Many entries are being designed now for display throughout the month.
Speaking of the events, The Duchess of Fife, director of Elsick Development Company which is leading the build of Chapelton, commented: “Year on year our events are becoming more and more popular. We’ve hosted a wide range of exciting and different events in the past – from chocolate making and wreath decorating to home decluttering and wine tasting – and we are sure that the upcoming summer events will be just as well received.
“Whether you live in Chapelton or are just visiting for the day, the events are a great opportunity to make the most of the warmer and longer days whilst meeting new people and fundraising for some extremely worthwhile local causes.”
