City residents were today urged to abide by the CV19 rules so people can try and enjoy what they can at Christmas.
The Depute Provost of Aberdeen Jennifer Stewart made the plea for people to stick to the government guidelines just now to help bring numbers down before the festive season.
Mrs Stewart said: “We all want to try and enjoy what we can at Christmas, so can we all please abide by the rules just now.
“These include simple actions such as washing your hands, wearing a face covering, and giving people 2metres of space. People should also ensure they are sanitising their hands when entering shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs as this protects not only you but also the hard-working staff in these premises. Shops and other premises can’t enforce hand sanitizing, but I am personally asking people to do this - make it their Christmas gift to one another.”

The current Scottish Government advice is that people should wear a face covering, avoid crowded places, clean hands and surfaces regularly, and stay 2m away from other people. People are asked to self-isolate and book a test if you have CV19 symptoms including a new continuous cough, a fever, or loss of, or change in, sense of smell or taste.
From December 23-27, there will be a limited relaxation of the CV19 rules to allow people to travel within the UK to spend Christmas together, in 'bubbles' of up to three households if they wish. It is important to remember the virus won’t take Christmas off and if it is provided with opportunities to spread from household to household, it is likely to take them.
