City’s budding musicians bring seasonal joy with Spring concerts

Pupils from every secondary school in Aberdeen will bring their talents to a wider audience with two Spring concerts at the Beach Ballroom.

Pupils from across the city who participate in Aberdeen City Council’s Music ensembles will perform at the landmark venue on Friday, March 8 and Saturday, March 9 with both concerts commencing at 6.30pm.

The Friday concert will feature the Service’s training band, youth band and guitar ensemble while Saturday’s event will see the audience entertained by the training strings ensemble, youth orchestra and choir.

The Music Service’s annual concerts have become a regular feature of the city’s music calendar and with four of the Service’s pupils already being selected for the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, National Youth Orchestra of Scotland’s Junior Orchestra, the Grampian Youth Orchestra and Royal Scottish National Orchestra Takeover Scheme, a high standard of performance is guaranteed.

Councillor John Wheeler, education operational delivery convener, said: “The Spring concerts are a marvellous platform for our young musicians to display their talents.

“The Music Service does a wonderful job of nurturing these talents and already this year we have reaped the rewards.

“All the ensembles deserve to play to packed houses and I’m certain that the audiences will have a fantastic evening’s entertainment.”
