Leading North-east charity
Clan Cancer Support will kickstart its 40th anniversary celebrations
with a birthday party themed ball in Aberdeen this September.
Clan will roll out the red
carpet for its event at the Beach Ballroom on Saturday, September 30, with all
proceeds going towards the provision of vital cancer support services for
people affected by cancer in the north-east, Moray, Shetland and
Orkney.
The event will encourage
guests to embrace their inner child and enjoy a twist on party classics
including a ball pit photobooth, birthday cake and alcoholic jelly alongside a
live band playing chart-topping tracks from throughout the charity's history.
Guests will enjoy a
three-course meal and drinks reception and have the opportunity to win raffles
prizes and bid for exclusive auction items.
Ruth McIntosh,
Clan’s charity development manager, said: “This is a very special year for Clan
as we mark 40 years of providing support to people affected by a cancer
diagnosis and we want to celebrate this significant milestone at our annual
ball.
“As the biggest
event in our fundraising calendar, our ball has proven invaluable over the
years in helping Clan provide its free services to our clients. This year we’re
going to throw Clan – and our supporters – an unforgettable birthday party and
we’d love to see as many people there as possible to help us celebrate!”
Clan was founded
in 1983 by a group of patients, health professionals and family members who
recognised that cancer does not just effect the patient, but their entire
socail network. They were determined to improve cancer support services
in a non-medical environment across Aberdeen and the north-east of Scotland.
It has grown from one
employee using a campervan to reach communities, to a team of nearly 60 across
eleven locations throughout north-east Scotland,
Moray, Orkney and Shetland.
The independent
cancer support charity provides emotional and practical support to anyone
affected by a cancer diagnosis, including the individual, their family, carers
and friends.
Clan provides
free professional counselling, complementary therapies, nutrition and wellbeing
activities, information and dedicated support for children and families. It
also operates The Haven, the charity’s bed and breakfast facility which adjoins
Clan House in Aberdeen and provides home from home accommodation for patients
travelling to the city for treatment and hospital appointments.
The ball will take place at
the Beach Ballroom on Saturday, September 30. Tickets cost £100 per person and
a limited number of tables of 10 are available at £1,000 each. VIP tables are
also available for £1,500 and include early access, exclusive use of the Soda
Bar, prosecco for the table.
