Aberdeen-based software company COMET has been announced as the official sponsor of “Auld Pals: An Evening with the Stars of Still Game”, the debut event from Aberdeen entertainment startup Black Tartan, taking place at the Aberdeen Music Hall.

The event, which reunites beloved cast members from Scotland’s iconic sitcom Still Game, is about to sell out, with over 1,200 tickets already sold and only a handful remaining.

The partnership marks a significant collaboration between two Aberdeen brands that share a commitment to innovation, community engagement, and people-first values.

Black Tartan was founded by Johnny Brooks and Alan Soutar with the aim of rethinking how live events are delivered in Scotland. The company has attracted growing investment and support from local entrepreneurs, businesses, and artists as it prepares to roll out shows across the country.

Central to Black Tartan’s model is a commitment to fairness and accessibility for audiences.

The company also takes a distinctly local approach to production.

Black Tartan prioritises suppliers from each host city, meaning that technicians, vendors, suppliers and marketers are sourced locally wherever possible. The same principle applies to sponsorships: each event features only one partner brand, selected for its alignment with the company’s values and its connection to the local community.

"COMET was a natural fit." said Alan Soutar, co-founder of Black Tartan and PDC darts star.

“For me, as a working firefighter, it’s seriously cool that a company who are dedicated to reducing risks and improving safety have chosen to work with us/. I get that it may not sound totally glamorous or showbiz, but speaking as someone that literally puts out fires and deals with accidents firsthand, I’d say anything that can prevent more is a worthy ally to Black Tartan.”

Founded in Aberdeen and now trusted by organisations across high-risk industries worldwide, COMET develops investigation management and root cause analysis software designed to help companies identify underlying causes of incidents and prevent repeat failures. The company combines people, data-driven software and advanced technology to improve organisational performance and safety outcomes.

With more than 400 years of combined investigative experience behind its development, COMET’s methodology and technology are used across sectors, including energy, construction, maritime, rail, and utilities.

The sponsorship reflects COMET’s commitment to reinvesting in its local community and supporting forward-thinking businesses.

The collaboration also comes shortly after the launch of COMET’s new podcast, “The Risk Factor”, produced with Black Tartan CEO Johnny Brooks just months before he would go on to launch the events startup.

‘COMET is delighted to sponsor "Auld Pals" an evening with the fantastic cast of Still Game - a show that fast became a National Institution!  We welcome them to Aberdeen where Tam will love our generosity, Bobby will revel in our banter, and Isa will have a great time chatting to the fish wifies down at Fittie!  Still Game really is Scotland at its creative best, well done to Black Tartan for bringing the cast together in Aberdeen, and thank you to our wonderful customers enjoying what will be a wonderful evening of laughter with us!'

Thanks to COMET’s support, Black Tartan has been able to enhance the event experience for attendees with additional surprises planned for the night, ensuring the reunion of the Still Game cast is a truly memorable occasion for fans.
