Jeremy Corbyn has launched a new political party with the goal of "taking on the rich and powerful".
The former Labour leader initially said the party would be known as "Your Party", but co-founder Zarah Sultana quickly intervened to say the name had not yet been finalised and would be chosen at a conference in the autumn.
In a joint statement, the ex-Labour duo said: "It's time for a new kind of political party - one that belongs to you."
Asked about similarities between Labour and the new party, the BBC reports Corbyn replied: "The Labour Party is a very top-down, highly centralised party that is full of control freaks who want to control whatever goes on within the party...
"This is going to be community-led, community-based, grassroot-led, this is going to be very different, and you know what? It's going to be fun."
The Times reports Labour strategists believe that the new party could cost them a handful of seats to pro-Gaza independents, given four such MPs announced that they were joining Corbyn and Sultana’s party within hours of its launch.
The newspaper also says there are also concerns that the party could divide the left vote and help Reform win in dozens of constituencies.
