Senior Aberdeenshire Council members and officers met businesses from Huntly and the surrounding area at a networking business engagement lunch last week. (Wednesday, June 27)
The event, held at Huntly Golf Club on a beautiful warm day, was officially opened by Aberdeenshire Provost William Howatson.
Infrastructure services director Stephen Archer outlined the main aim of the event, which was to give local business people a chance to speak directly with the Council leadership and share their thoughts and views now and for the future.
Business representatives were then treated to a networking taster lunch, which was a local culinary adventure using the very best of what Huntly and the surrounding area has to offer.
Prepared and served by Fiona Forrest and her team, it included Forbes Raeburn haggis bon-bons served with Huntly Herbs chutney and Duncan Farms fresh egg meringue with Rizza's ice cream.
During his speech, Mr Archer endorsed the benefits of partnership working, highlighted the excellent use and promotion of local food and beverage producers, and encouraged guests to meet and mingle.
Mr Archer said: “I welcomed the opportunity to discuss the work underway to shape Huntly’s future with local businesses.
"The ongoing support of the business and wider community is vital in developing a vibrant and sustainable future for Huntly.”
Leader of Aberdeenshire Council, Jim Gifford, said afterwards: “This was a great opportunity to talk to local businesses about current trading conditions and the ambition that continues to make this such a special corner of Aberdeenshire.
“It’s always good to meet with local business communities and share ideas about how to ensure the economy of Aberdeenshire can continue to drive prosperity and deliver opportunities for local people.”
