Aberdeen City Council could be set to invite Uber to the table for key meetings about the taxi and private hire vehicles sector in the Granite City.

The Press and Journal reports a council licencing report revealed the potential shake-up.

Uber told the P&J it welcomed the "important step forward" in meeting the "huge demand" for its services in Aberdeen.

Until now, Uber has been shut out of behind-closed-doors meetings on council policy on the issue.

But city taxi bosses have cautioned the change cannot lead to the council "losing sight of drivers".
