One of the biggest names in country music is set to perform in Scotland next month, with an ‘up-close-and-personal’ one-off gig on Royal Deeside.

Singer songwriter Suzy Bogguss has enjoyed a string of Top 10 chart hits in the USA and platinum and gold certified albums alongside awards from the Academy of Country Music and Country Music Association.

Suzy will headline Deeside arts venue St Margaret’s Braemar, where she will be joined by some special guests including award-winning Oklahoma troubadour Verlon Thompson.

In addition to her country music success, Suzy has also recorded a critically acclaimed Western swing album, as well as a record with the great Chet Atkins, and American Folk Songbook collection and an album celebrating the songs of Merle Haggard. Suzy lives in Nashville, Tennessee and tours regularly with her band across the USA and throughout the world.

The concert, taking place on Saturday, May 27, is the latest in a long-running series of Transatlantic Connections shows organised at St Margaret’s by venue trustee and well-kent Scottish singer-songwriter and producer Fiona Kennedy.

All proceeds from this year’s concert will be generously donated to St Margaret’s for its ongoing development into a high-quality heritage, culture and arts venue.

Tickets are available now, starting from £9 for under 16s and £15 for Friends of St Margaret’s. These can be booked at stmargaretsbraemar.org.uk

Commenting ahead of her forthcoming trip to Scotland, Suzy Bogguss said:

“I’m so excited to experience this gorgeous St. Margaret's venue first hand.

“This will be a memorable night with old friends and new!”

St Margaret’s trustee Fiona Kennedy said:

“Transatlantic Connections returns to St Margaret’s this May with the truly wonderful Suzy Bogguss and some seriously talented musical friends in concert.

“Suzy is steeped in the country music tradition, but she’s released jazz and folk records in recent years which demonstrate true musicianship and versatility across different styles.

“As one of the most acclaimed female country singers of the past four decades, Suzy has produced several Top 10 records and sold gold and platinum certified records in the states — a testament to her brilliant penmanship and sensitive musicianship.

“We are so lucky to have her perform for us exclusively in Braemar — her only concert date on this trip to the UK — in such up-close-and-personal surroundings.

“This is always guaranteed to be one of the most popular events in our increasingly busy programme at St Margaret’s — tickets are on sale now, so be sure to book yours now.”
