A brand new production of the classic thriller, Dial M for Murder, tours the UK next year, coming to Aberdeen’s His Majesty’s Theatre from Monday, February 17 – Saturday, February 22, 2020.
The genreâ€defining thriller †based on Frederick Knott’s stage and screen play, made worldâ€famous by Hitchcock’s iconic 1954 film †will be directed by Anthony Banks, and will be part of the Granite Noir crime fiction Festival, which takes place from February 20-24, 2020 in venues across the city.
The production is just one spine-tingling production lined up as part of a Monsters and Murder season at His Majesty’s Theatre, which also includes Frankenstein (February 4-8 2020), and A Monster Calls (March 17-21 2020).
Aberdeen Performing Arts chief executive, Jane Spiers, said: “Dial M for Murder will slot in perfectly with Granite Noir and complement the festival programme perfectly. Our Monsters and Murder season gives ample opportunity to get involved and indulge in world-class, gripping drama at HMT.”
TV and stage favourite, Tom Chambers, (Top Hat, Strictly Come Dancing) stars as the charismatic and manipulative Tony Wendice, a jaded exâ€tennis pro who has given it all up for his wife Margot, played by Sally Bretton * (Not Going Out, Death In Paradise, The Office). When he discovers she has been unfaithful his mind turns to revenge and the pursuit of the ‘perfect crime’. Christopher Harper (Coronation Street, Strangers on a Train) performs in the dual roles of Captain Lesgate and Inspector Hubbard and Michael Salami (Hollyoaks) as Max Halliday, Margot’s American lover.
