Council planners have given the go-ahead for Aberdeen FC to install a large LED scoreboard screen at Pittodrie Stadium.
The Dons submitted a planning application to Aberdeen City Council in March outlining proposals for the screen, which will be installed at the back of Section Y in the South Stand.
Now, the local authority has conditionally approved the plans for the screen with a total display area of 81.09 sq meters.
The screen is now set to be constructed over the summer and be operational for next season.
Among the council's conditions for approval are that screen not be used after 11pm or before 8am.
It is also stipulated that no "flashing or strobe lighting effects" may be used "in order to preserve the amenity of the neighbourhood".
An Aberdeen FC spokeswoman said: "We're delighted that approval has been granted for the installation of a big screen at Pittodrie.
"We believe this is a hugely positive development that further demonstrates our commitment to improving the matchday experience for our supporters.
"Fans can look forward to a more informative, engaging and visually enhanced matchday from next season onwards."
It is believed the screen will be capable of displaying match footage, as well as information relating to VAR checks, time and score updates and advertising.
The screen would be provided by MaxAmaze, a leading specialist in fan engagement entertainment, pyrotechnics, stadium sound systems, and floodlights which recently became an official partner of AFC.
The manufacturer's brochure says its screen designs boast high reliability and stability and are - fortunately for the uncovered Section Y location - "not afraid of harsh environments".
