Aberdeen FC has smashed through the milestone of 10,000 season tickets sold just days after a historic first Scottish Cup win in 35 years.

Good feeling has swept through the city and wider North-east, with around 100,000 people lining the streets to welcome their heroes home with the trophy during an open-top parade.

And that positive energy has continued as fans commit to following the Dons throughout the coming season, with more than 10,000 having purchased season tickets already.

Season tickets are now on general sale, with less than a week to go until the early bird price deadline on Monday June 9.

Big football crowds mean increased footfall in the city centre and increased business for shops, restaurants and bars.

In the wake of the Scottish Cup trophy parade, city centre businesses reported a huge boost in trade, in some cases by fivefold.

Adrian Watson, chief executive of Aberdeen Inspired – the city centre Business Improvement District – said: “The joyous scenes we saw were almost unbelievable – and so was the massive boost in trade it brought to city centre businesses.

“We have had some in the hospitality sector delighting in telling us their business was easily up fivefold from what they would normally expect on a Sunday. Their hope – and mine also – is that this will have a lasting impact."

Mackie's in Marischal Square also reported its busiest ever hour of ice cream sales.
