Double Design Award Shortlisting for Mearns & Gill

Aberdeen-based creative agency, Mearns & Gill, has been shortlisted in two categories of The Drum’s prestigious Scottish Creative Awards 2017, which take place in Edinburgh on October 26.

The awards, which are now in their 20th year, were launched to award top creative work that has taken place across the previous 12 months, and are open to any advertising, digital or design agency in Scotland, or to agencies who have done work for a Scottish client.

Mearns and Gill have been shortlisted in the categories of ‘Art Direction’ and ‘Outdoor, Press and Print’ for their recent work with Plant Integrity Management, a specialist in consultancy and strategic management support for critical plant and equipment.

The project was a series of memorable, thought-provoking adverts, with bold imagery and messaging that would stand out in the media, and push the boundaries of advertising within the oil and gas sector. The campaign faces tough competition from several other Scottish agencies, on projects for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Stirling Council, Sutherland’s of Portsoy, Standby Guitars and Lyceum Youth Theatre.

Michael Wilson, managing director of Mearns & Gill said “We are delighted to have been shortlisted for two awards at this year’s Scottish Creative Awards. This is the first time in many years that Mearns & Gill have entered the awards, and to have made it this far in two categories is great for both our team, and for our client. Delivering creativity for clients is at the heart of everything we do, and it was great to work on such an exciting brief from the team at Plant Integrity Management.”

“Whilst we have everything crossed for taking an award back to Aberdeen, we are genuinely delighted to have been shortlisted, and would like to take this opportunity to wish all of this year’s finalists the very best of luck.”

Martin Worth, business manager at Plant Integrity Management Ltd said, "The oil and gas industry is going through an extremely challenging time, it is vital that we take every opportunity to set ourselves apart from our competitors. We gave the team at Mearns & Gill the challenge of creating something truly different from the norm in terms of the adverts which are usually seen within the industry. They were more than up to the task. Not only are we delighted with the suite of ads but also with the response that they have had to date."
