Innovators and talent from
across the UK’s underwater industry have been named on the shortlist for the
2023 Subsea Expo Awards.
The prestigious awards
ceremony, organised by the Global Underwater Hub, will take place on February
22, 2023, at P&J Live in Aberdeen.
The awards coincide with
Subsea Expo – the world’s largest exhibition
and conference dedicated to the underwater sector. Free to attend, the
three-day event is expected to attract up to 6,500 industry professionals and
will feature around 150 exhibiting companies.
Boskalis Subsea Services,
Parkburn Precision Handling Systems Ltd., and Scientific Management International
Ltd. have been announced as the finalists for the company of the year (over 50
employees) award, which is sponsored by Viper Innovations.
In the company of the year
(under 50 employees) category, the finalists are Legasea Ltd., J+S Subsea, and
ITC Hydraulics and Manufacturing.
Caley Ocean Systems,
Parkburn Precision Handling Systems Ltd., and Fugro have been recognised for
their technological advancements and have been shortlisted for the technology
development award, sponsored by C-Kore Systems.
Namaka Subsea, Havfram
Limited and PanGeo Subsea are shortlisted in the Global Exports category.
The cross-sector
diversification award, sponsored by Havfram UK, will be contested by Crondall
Energy, JFD Limited, and Viewport3.
New talent
within the industry is represented by Stephanie Hood from Baker Hughes; Fraser
Stewart from JFD Limited; and Ross Macfarlane from Fugro who have been shortlisted
for the rising star award.
An individual who has made a
lasting impact on the underwater sector throughout their career will also be
recognised on the night with the outstanding contribution award.

The
Subsea Expo Awards recognise the companies and individuals who are leading the
way in the underwater sector. The guest speaker on the evening will be
space scientist, engineer and broadcaster Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock MBE, who will
share her love of science and highlight the everyday connections that exist
between space and our seas.
The awards will take place
during Subsea Expo, which runs from 21 - 23 February 2023 at P&J Live in
Aberdeen. This year’s event has the theme of “Into the Blue” which will highlight the
potential of the Blue Economy across the established and emerging underwater
sectors and how they must work together to maximise on the blue economic
opportunities.
