The British & Irish Association of Fastener Distributors (BIAFD) has appointed Gary Henderson, managing director of Grampian Fasteners, as its new chair.
The BIAFD has represented the interests of fastener distributors for more than 70 years. With 100 member companies across the UK and Ireland - including most major wholesalers, importers, manufacturers and fastener distributors who supply essential components to industries ranging from construction and engineering to transport and energy – the association plays a vital role in supporting the fastener industry and promoting best practice.
Gary Henderson has more than two decades of experience in the sector. Under his leadership, Grampian Fasteners has been a member of BIAFD for 12 years, playing an active role in industry discussions and initiatives.
Commenting on his appointment, Gary said: “I’m honoured to be taking on this role. Grampian Fasteners has been a member of BIAFD for 12 years, and we’ve seen first-hand the value of collaboration in our industry. Running any business is becoming increasingly complex, but the fastener sector faces many challenges – especially in the area of international trade.
"Our current focus includes navigating the implementation of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism in the EU and the equivalent in the UK expected in 2027, as well as addressing Anti-Dumping duties on imported fasteners and ongoing trade tariffs. Ultimately our work benefits the many industries our members serve across the UK and Ireland.”
As chair, Gary will work with BIAFD members and partners to address upcoming regulatory and trade challenges, strengthen supply chains, and ensure the sector continues to support key industries nationwide.
