The North-east of Scotland’s largest independent construction materials supplier, GPH Builders Merchants, has been named a finalist in three major categories at the 2025 Builders Merchant Awards, the premier event celebrating excellence in the UK’s construction materials supply sector.
The awards ceremony will take place on Friday 28th November at the Park Plaza Hotel, London, and will be hosted by well-known TV personality and comedian Ed Byrne.
GPH has been shortlisted for:
- Builders Merchant of the Year (1–5 Branches) – the top national award for independent merchants operating fewer than six branches.
- Health & Safety Award – recognising GPH’s ongoing commitment to employee wellbeing through initiatives such as its in-house poster campaign, which raised awareness of the importance of sleep and highlighted key health issues including the early signs of prostate cancer.
- Best Tool Showroom – following upgrades to the Ellon branch, which now showcases an extensive range of Stihl landscaping equipment, hand tools, power tools, and accessories, all designed to offer customers an exceptional in-store experience.
Three members of the GPH team will travel to London to represent the company at this year’s ceremony.
Grant Shewan, managing director of GPH Builders Merchants, commented: “We are absolutely delighted to be nominated in three categories at this year’s Builders Merchant Awards. Despite the tough economic conditions our industry continues to face, the hard work, professionalism, and dedication of our staff never goes unnoticed. These nominations are a reflection of their commitment to excellence and the strength of our business as a whole.”
GPH Builders Merchants operates from four locations across the North-east of Scotland – Inverurie, Westhill, Stonehaven and Ellon – supplying a wide range of building materials, tools, and landscaping products to trade and DIY customers alike. The company also operates a volumetric concrete delivery service, providing customers with flexible, on-site mixed concrete solutions for projects of all sizes.
