GHAT is currently seeking to recruit a Chair Designate to take over from current Chair Prof Hamish McKenzie, who is stepping down as chair after 10 years leading the organisation.

The Chair is responsible for co-ordinating a Board of Trustees who are collectively responsible for the governance of the charity under the guidance of the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR).

This includes responsibility for financial matters, and the overall strategy in delivering our main purpose - which is to use art to make our hospitals as attractive and comforting as possible for all those who spend time there, whether staff, patients or visitors.

Experience in charity governance, management and business skills would provide useful background for the role. Candidates need not be art or heritage “experts”, but an interest in professional art and an appreciation of its value in promoting wellbeing is essential.
