Greenwell was delighted to join city dignitaries, organisers and fellow sponsors aboard the Polish Tall Ship Dar Młodzieży for a civic reception to mark the opening of The Tall Ships Races Aberdeen 2025.
The reception, hosted by the Lord Provost and Aberdeen City Council, was held on Saturday 19th July at Regent Quay, welcoming key sponsors to celebrate the arrival of one of Europe’s biggest free family events.
Representing Greenwell were director Julie Wood and chairman Richy Turnbull, who were delighted to attend as guests of the city in recognition of the company’s official sponsorship of the event.
Greenwell provided 13 CTX office cabins and 10 storage containers to support site operations across the harbour. Greenwell’s contribution played a vital role in the behind-the-scenes coordination of the event, offering key infrastructure to support logistics, staff operations, and crew services.
The CTX cabins and 10ft and 20ft containers helped staff and production teams based at Peterson Seabase as well across Regents Quay, Jamieson’s Quay, and Blaikie’s Quay.
Scott Brown, sales director at Greenwell, said: “It’s exciting to be involved in a major international event such as the Tall Ships Races Aberdeen 2025, we’re incredibly proud to be the official Event Operations Sponsor; providing essential infrastructure like cabins and containers and it is a privilege to be part of something that is bringing a lot of excitement to the city.”
Greenwell and Celera Support Services also recently announced their strategic partnership to bring the Common Sense Coffee House and Bar to Jamieson Quay as part of the Tall Ships 2025. Greenwell is supplying a purpose-built hospitality hub, specifically designed and created for the event.
Julie Wood, director at Greenwell, commented: “The Civic Reception was a brilliant event, and it’s been such a pleasure to meet so many people behind the scenes making this happen. To be part of an international event of this scale is incredibly special. It’s been 28 years since the Tall Ships last visited Aberdeen, and we’re proud to support the return of something so spectacular to our city.”
Richy Turnbull added: “The atmosphere aboard the ship and around the harbour was fantastic. It’s a real honour for Greenwell to contribute to such a landmark moment for Aberdeen. The city is buzzing, and the Tall Ships will leave a lasting legacy for both residents and local businesses.”
Greenwell Equipment, a family-run Aberdeen business established in 1996, supplies cabins, containers, pallet racking and office furniture across Scotland and beyond. When the Tall Ships last visited Aberdeen 28 years ago, Greenwell was in its first year of business - and many staff still remember the excitement of that event. Now, nearly three decades later, Greenwell is proud to be an official event operations sponsor for the Tall Ships’ return, supporting the occasion with the same dedication they bring to major infrastructure projects like the Queensferry Crossing and HS2, as well as local community initiatives.
