Hit comedy musical Mrs Doubtfire is set for Aberdeen’s His Majesty’s Theatre in 2027, leading the charge in a host of newly announced shows set to bring Hollywood to HMT.
Legendary multi award-winning musical CATS visits in February 2027, while drama fans will be treated to adaptations of dystopian classic 1984 in October 2026, psychological horror Paranormal Activity in March 2027, and courtroom drama Twelve Angry Men which comes to His Majesty’s in September 2026.
Aberdeen Performing Arts Chief Executive, Sharon Burgess, said: “When we heard that Mrs Doubtfire was packing up her suitcase to tour the UK, we knew we had to extend an invite to visit us at His Majesty’s Theatre and we are delighted that the lady herself will be joining us for a two week stint in 2027.
“We are equally thrilled that one of the UKs highest profile producers, Michael Harrison will be bringing us this incredible production of Cats, which promises to be truly sensational.
“And there will be plenty for our drama audiences to enjoy with three huge titles in 1984, Twelve Angry Men and Paranormal Activity. It’s a real mix of shows to cater for our wonderfully diverse Aberdeen audiences and so much to look forward to!”
Mrs Doubtfire strides in to His Majesty’s Theatre from June 30 to July 18 2027.
A hilarious and heartfelt story about holding onto your loved ones against all odds, Mrs. Doubtfire is the musical comedy we need right now.
Out-of-work actor Daniel will do anything for his kids. After losing custody in a messy divorce, he creates the alter ego of Scottish nanny Euphegenia Doubtfire in a desperate attempt to stay in their lives. As his new character takes on a life of its own, Mrs. Doubtfire teaches Daniel more than he bargained for about how to be a father.
The UK and Ireland tour of Mrs. Doubtfire will star Gabriel Vick as Daniel Hillard following his acclaimed performances in the West End.
Gabriel commented: “I am delighted to be bringing the beloved Mrs Doubtfire direct from London to audiences throughout the UK and Ireland. The musical is full of the moments you know and love from the film and also packed with brilliant new songs. It is heartwarming, hilarious and going to be so much fun for the whole family. See you there, Poppets!”
Michael Harrison for Lloyd Webber Harrison Musicals presents the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s global sensation, CATS from February 9 to 13 2027.
From Euston station to Victoria Grove, the strays and rebels of London gather under the Jellicle moon in the hope they’ll be the chosen one. And each of them asks, because each of them dares, who will it be?
Based on T.S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, and with a legendary score which inspired generations featuring Old Deuteronomy, Macavity: The Mystery Cat, Jellicle Ball and the chart-topping hit Memory, this brand-new production of CATS, directed and choreographed by Drew McOnie (Brigadoon, Jesus Christ Superstar), is a magical musical like no other.
CATS is one of the longest-running shows in West End and Broadway history. The show originally premiered at the New London Theatre in 1981, where it played for 21 record-breaking years and almost 9,000 performances. The ground-breaking production was the winner of the Olivier and Evening Standard Awards for Best Musical. In 1983, the Broadway production became the recipient of seven Tony awards, including Best Musical. It ran for 18 years.
1984 is a co-production between Citizens Theatre, Dundee Rep Theatre and The Royal Lyceum Edinburgh, coming to His Majesty’s Theatre from October 13 to 17 2026. This new stage adaptation of 1984 stays true to Orwell’s dystopian novel about a tightly controlled society built on surveillance, fear and the manipulation of truth – while exploring the love affair between Winston and Julia that catapults them into rebellion.
One of the defining novels of the 20th century, 1984’s Scottish connections are striking.
Written largely on the Scottish island of Jura and completed while he was seriously ill in hospitals and sanatoria, George Orwell spent crucial periods in Scotland while finishing the book -including time at Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride as his health deteriorated.
The physical strain he was under, and the bleak post-war climate in which he was writing, echo through the novel’s stark and unsettling world.
Paranormal Activity, which comes to His Majesty’s for a supernatural stint from March 2 to 6, 2027, is a new story inspired by the worldwide horror phenomenon.
Blurring the line between cinema and live theatre, Paranormal Activity has been hailed as a ‘relentlessly frightening – arm-clutchingly, stranger-embracingly so’ (Metro) theatrical experience — leaving audiences jumping out of their seats and questioning what’s lurking in the dark long after the curtain falls.
Paranormal Activity reimagines the modern ghost story with an unsettling intimacy only theatre can provide. Immersing audiences in an atmosphere of creeping dread, unseen forces, and psychological tension, Levi Holloway’s script offers a bold reinterpretation of the original, blending domestic horror with mind-bending theatricality. Felix Barrett, known for breaking boundaries between audience and performer, brings his signature visionary style to the production. With innovative staging and chilling soundscapes, Paranormal Activity invites audiences to witness the inexplicable up close—and feel the fear in real time.
Twelve Angry Men visits from September 15 to 19 2026, bringing the 1957 three-time Academy Award nominated film, considered one of the great ‘must-sees’ of all time, to the stage.
A jury has murder on their minds and a life in their hands as they decide the fate of a young delinquent accused of killing his father. But what appears to be an open and shut case soon becomes a huge dilemma, as prejudices and preconceived ideas about the accused, the trial, and each other turn the tables every which way, until the nail-biting climax…
