High Tea amongst the Apple Blossom in Ellon’s Secret Garden

Ellon Castle Gardens and the Ellon & District Fundraising Group for Marie Curie join forces on May 28 to host an afternoon tea with a difference.

The garden gates will open to welcome visitors to their ‘Tea in the Gardens’ event raising money for the two charities. Three guided tours will be running on the day complimented with delicious high teas served up in the Gardens marquee by the very talented Marie Curie Team.

It’s a rare opportunity to visit the venue which is currently being renovated and revitalized as part of a long-term plan to turn it into a major tourist attraction for the area. With the apple blossom is in full bloom it really is a treat for all the senses, the walled garden is lined with a huge variety of species, some still dating back to the 1930s, many trees tagged with their original planting date and variety.

Profit on the day will be split equally between the two charities – the Marie Curie nurses work day and night in patients’ homes across the UK providing hands on care and vital emotional support to patients living with a terminal illness and their families. Marie Curie services are always free, but their hands –on, specialist end of life care costs £20 per hour.

The event opens at 1pm – with the guided tours leaving at 1pm, 2pm & 3pm with teas being served from 2pm. Joining the tour is not compulsory however full access to the garden is only available via the tour – Entry £7 for adults and £3 for children with a £1 discount for Ellon Castle Garden members on production of their membership card.

The gardens can be accessed on foot either via the entrance from Ellon Health Centre (AB41 9JH for satnav users) or via Castle Road (crossing the Deer Park). Further details can be found by visiting www.elloncastlegardens.org.
