Hotel celebrates most important meal of the day

An award-winning Aberdeen hotel is celebrating the most important meal of the day with what is believed to be the largest breakfast selection in the city.

The Aberdeen Altens Hotel offers an unusually large breakfast choice, ranging from cereals and fresh fruit to a full Scottish Breakfast with all of the trimmings.

In 2018, staff at The Aberdeen Altens Hotel served a grand total of 61,235 breakfasts including 50000 fried eggs, 5000kg of bacon, 4000kg of baked beans, 2000kg haggis, 21,000 litres of orange juice and enough sausages to stretch all the way from Aberdeen to Stonehaven.

The quality of breakfast at the four-star venue was underlined recently when it received a highly recommended place in the 2019 Prestige Awards, which showcase and reward outstanding service within the hotel industry, and are voted for by the public. The hotel was proud to take the accolade in one of the awards’ busiest sections, with 21 finalists from across Scotland.

The Aberdeen Altens Hotel occupies a prime location on the south side of the city and is its largest hotel by number of bedrooms. It has been the focus of investment totalling £6m in the last six years. A drive to do things differently and maintain a fresh, exciting approach to all areas of the business has resulted in a growing reputation for innovative guest services and creative, customer-focused delivery.

Commenting on the award, Kris Manship, general manager of The Aberdeen Altens Hotel said: “Guest feedback consistently compliments the range and quality of our breakfast offering, and getting this part of our service right is incredibly important to us.

“We are delighted that the Prestige Awards provided important recognition of our efforts in this area and the stats speak for themselves in terms of exactly how much our breakfasts are enjoyed.”
