Inaugural Aberdeen event to boost HSE performance hailed a success

Around 70 oil and gas professionals have benefited from advice on how to improve their health, safety and environmental (HSE) performance following an event held in Aberdeen.

Hosted by Maersk Training at Prime Four Business Park, Kingswells, the free-to-attend event was created by design, print and digital specialist XIC and supported by waste and recycling business One Stop Waste Solutions and magical training provider Fifth Dimension.

Aimed at supporting industry professionals to come together, build connections and share examples of best practice, the free-to-attend lunch and learn forum provided delegates with invaluable advice on how to improve their HSE credentials as well as a free toolkit for every attendee.

The workshop featured a series of informative talks from each of the three organisers focused around key HSE issues, including preparing for the approaching landfill ban, reducing risk in the workplace and embedding safety at the heart of organisational culture.

Jason Moir, business development director at XIC, said: “We first came up with the idea for an event aimed specifically at HSE professionals and decision-makers after spotting a gap in the market and invited our friends at One Stop Waste and Fifth Dimension to take part to help make that a reality.

“Following the success of this first event, all of the companies involved are now in active discussions about how we can take this format forward in 2019 and make any further improvements.”

Craig Donoghue, managing director at One Stop Waste Solutions, commented: “It proved to be a fantastic opportunity for HSE professionals from across the oil and gas industry to come together and develop new and existing connections as well as explore opportunities to collaborate.

“We were delighted with the strong turnout from many of our clients and contacts across the sector which showed the strong appetite for this kind of relaxed but educational event.”
