‘Curated in the Quad’, the popular open-air Christmas Market is set to return to Marischal College Quadrangle running Friday, Saturday and Sunday over the weekends from November 18 until December 18 in the lead up to Christmas.

Curated by local charity Charlie House the event will showcase a unique line up each week of locally produced arts, crafts, clothing, homeware and gifts along with gourmet food and drink, giving local producers a retail opportunity in the heart of the city.

Organisers Aberdeen Inspired are making a final call out for stallholders who want to take secure a sought-after spot at the market which has grown in popularity over the years.

Adrian Watson, Chief Executive of Aberdeen Inspired said “The demand for stalls this year has been incredible with over 80 applications received so far from a wide variety of businesses.

“It is important that we have an attractive mix of retail offerings in the city centre and this unique opportunity allows small independent businesses, who may not normally have a presence, to showcase their products to a broader customer base.

“We anticipate the ‘Curated in the Quad Market’ will be as popular as ever and expect this festive shopping experience will appeal to shoppers and encourage more people to shop local this Christmas. Aberdeen is a fantastic city, and the ‘Curated in the Quad’ market adds so much to the city over the festive season.”

Aberdeen based winery, Two Raccoons, are an innovate wine maker who use surplus fruit waste from businesses across the region to make wine. Their application has been successful and Lasse Melgaard, co-founder and one of the ‘Two Raccoons’ told us why it’s of value for them to have a spot this year "We're excited to take part in the Christmas Quad. This is our first time doing a Christmas Market and we will be showcasing our new mulled wine together with a range of our other locally produced wines. As an urban Aberdeen-based winery, it's great to take part in the Curated Market to show people what is happening in their city and make them aware of how to find local and sustainable products made in the heart of the city."

Organised by Charlie House in partnership with Aberdeen Inspired, last year the market raised over £15,000 for Charlie House, a local children's charity that aims to improve the quality of life for babies, children and young people in the north-east of Scotland who have life-limiting or life-threatening conditions and provide support to their families.

Commenting on the stallholder opportunity Susan Crighton, Director of Fundraising at Charlie House said “Charlie House is delighted to be involved with ‘Curated in the Quad’ again this year. It is a great example of local partners coming together to support local businesses and a local charity, with the end result being much needed support for local families. I can’t wait to see what ‘Curated in the Quad’ has to offer this year, it’s always a joy to shop in the city and pick up some unique and individual gifts from the talented makers and producers in the northeast.”

Operating on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday each weekend from November 18 until December 18 2022, applications for the market stalls, priced at £150 +VAT for the weekend, are now open with limited spaces remaining. Interested traders should apply by 16 October 2022.

Previous outdoor Curated in the Quad Markets were held in 2018 and 2019 and 2021, attracting thousands of shoppers and visitors into the city centre.

The Curated in the Quad Market will run from 11am to 7pm on Friday and Saturday and 11am to 6pm on Sunday, from November 18 until December 18.

As the city centre Business Improvement District (BID), Aberdeen Inspired is supporting the planned festive events in the city centre.
