Aberdeen businesses, IT Hotdesk and H&R Insurance have joined forces to launch Cyber Live Aberdeen 2021, a free cybersecurity conference that will take place at the Chester Hotel next month.

The free event is designed to examine the different types of cyber threats out there, and how businesses can protect themselves and others against the damaging effects of cybercrime.

IT Hotdesk managing director Gordon Christie said: “Cyber Live is designed to make people think critically about cybersecurity, and how it can impact individuals and their business.

“The level of business related cyber attacks being reported is quite concerning. Cyber criminals are evolving and their attacks are becoming more sophisticated and difficult to identify. It’s important that businesses are aware of the risks and how they can protect themselves.”

Having already hosted a number of successful free webinars on hybrid working and cyber security, IT Hotdesk has teamed up with H&R Insurance to launch a free cyber event, Cyber Live Aberdeen 2021, which will take place on Wednesday, October 6 from 08:00am - 11:00am and is open for any business type, size or sector to attend.

Shona Robertson, partner at H&R Insurance commented: “The financial impact of CV19 has led to businesses tightening budgets and cutting costs where possible. As the world slowly re-opens, and life begins to return to normal, we’re seeing a real change in pace for businesses. People are having to work harder and move more quickly than before, and in my experience this is when accidents are more likely to happen.”

On the day, industry experts from across the UK will come together to discuss all things cyber security, from the most common types of attacks, to pen testing and most importantly how to protect your business.

Shona continues: “Times are tough for businesses as it is, without adding the stress and disruption of a cyber attack into the mix. Both IT Hotdesk and H&R Insurance are passionate about supporting local businesses, and ensuring that as many people come out of the CV19 crisis unscathed, which has led to the team launching a free event that is open for anyone to attend."

Covering topics such as security assessment, cyber awareness and encryption, the event is suitable for businesses of all sizes and sectors.
